Carl Vine was born in Perth, Western Australia in 1954. He was requested to play piano at the annual fund-raiser of the Australian National AIDS Trust in 1994. He wrote “Threnody,” a short and simple dedication for all the innocent victims. It became the final piece in the cycle of five bagatelles, composed in the contemporary style.
